Eastern Promise?
RACE, INNOVATION AND EXCLUSION IN THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES REGENERATION OF EAST LONDON
A talk by Orson Nava.

The creative industries are increasingly acknowledged as the economic force that is driving urban regeneration in the post-industrial era. However, how far have the problematics of this emerging process been examined when it comes to questions of race, power and social inclusion? Hyper diversity, migration and radical demographic shift in the capital’s population raise profound questions about how the creative industries navigate cultural difference, particularly in terms of recruitment, access to resources and platforms for cultural products. Orson's research examines these questions with regards to the causes and effects of social stratification and cultural exclusion in the creative industries regeneration of East London.
