Interface Chaos [Antiuniversity 2019 screening]

A preview of INTERFACE CHAOS, the debut short film by the Demystification Committee, followed by a conversation with the artists

The Demystification Committee explores the struggle for survival of two nonhuman beings in their debut short film INTERFACE CHAOS, accompanied by an original soundtrack by SKY H1.

Two palm trees search for a means to live and love, interfacing with the chaos of nature. Confined to a single island of an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, they are observed growing their mysterious coconut.

Alongside them, an alien force has slowly taken over the same land, turning it into another node in its sprawling network. This is money, growing its reach into the archipelago, transforming it into a tax haven.

The sentiences of palms and money produce different landscapes: the palms openly experiment with nature, while money jealously covers the interfaces it created in this node of its network. Through the signs these beings leave behind, INTERFACE CHAOS explores forces and intensities, doors and membranes, entries and exits.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with the artist hosted by Evening Class, touching on the themes of chaos, nonhuman sentience and survival interfaces, and by a Q&A with the audience.

This event is part of Antiuniversity Now, a festival running between 15-22 June 2019.
